Got the Blues..

Finally we're close to the weekend!!!  It puts a smile on my face just thinking about. Today was a very hectic day for me. I did some errands for my husband, and then i had to go and practice with the worship team for Saturday. Fortunately I had a bit of time to take pictures of my outfit. I chose this outfit after seeing rose&violette, so I thought I should try it today. Honestly it's the first time I wear denim on denim and I'm totally in love with it. I think I will continue to put them together from now on.
I hope you enjoy your day and look forward to the weekend with a positive attitude!
Stay warm.
Much Love,
Bev

PS. I'm in love with my belt.

Following In Her Footsteps

I was talking to my mom recently and I was telling her what EMPHASIS is about. This made me wonder about the type of style my mom had in her younger years and if some had rub off on me?  So I started to look for pictures of her and I couldn’t find many but these show a little bit of what she liked.

I believe some of her outfits are back in style, oh how I wish she had saved all her old clothes for me.  I wouldn't have to be looking for some in the antique stores (which some stores totally price the time instead of the quality and time of the clothes). That would’ve been awesome if our mothers had saved their clothes for us (well maybe, my mom was way smaller than I will ever be).  And fashion is a circle anyways; What was old is new again.

I guess in the end I have a bit of her style taste in me. Also guess what her favorite color is? Yup, her favorite color is also purple, well more lilac. We borrow clothes and shoes from each other’s closet (and never return them, um... well she does, I usually claim them as mine after I wear them). Now that I think of it, I truly did follow in her footsteps of fashion after all.  Did you follow your mothers’ style as well? If so I want to read about it too.
Much Love,
Beverly

Love this outfit.. I'm in the process of making it happen!

PS. I apologize for the poor picture resolution, I hope you can forgive me. :)
PSS. Thanks mom for the pics. Te quiero mucho mami!

My DC Talk

I know everyone hates Mondays and some people had to work even though it was MLK’s day, if you did sorry. But my Monday was great! We ALL slept in which is a dream come true if you’re a mother. And to top it off, the cold gave us a break and I was able to wear this outfit. I know… I know… I’m wearing my brown boots again, but who can blame me, I like them.  They also match my brown belt, which I got at Dirt Cheap a while back.

Dirt Cheap you ask? What kindda name is that?  It’s actually the name of a store I learned about way back in 2003. DC as I like to call it, only “exist” in the state of Mississippi and maybe Alabama. At first I wonder why? I can see a lot of ladies benefit from this store.  I soon realized MS and AL are one the poorest states.  And since I happen to live here, I get to benefit from this amazing store. I do have to say that the store is not for everyone, because you really have to WANT something to go there. It’s a treasure hunt.

The store gets merchandise from every store there is. Stores send their unsold items and DC sale them for… well DIRT CHEAP! So next time you’re in either of those states, you gotta see what they have.
Well after giving you detail info on DC, let me just tell you that my Monday ended an even higher note. Sunday I mentioned I wanted to watch a movie cuddle in bed with my husband; well he ended up renting a movie for me; “Going the Distance”. It’s a romantic comedy about a long distance relationship.  And well my husband and I had a long distance relationship for one year (I’m glad those days are way over btw), so this movie totally made us remembered our dating "era". He’s a sweetheart. I guess he made my wish come true, since I got to watch my romantic movie cuddled in bed with him after all.
Much Love,
Beverly

Feed Your Mind

It was a rainy Sunday for me, and yes still very much cold. All I wished for was to stay in bed and watch a romantic movie cuddled in bed with my husband, but my fairy godmother never appeared to make my wish come true. I guess 'cause it was raining.
I went to meet up with some ladies from church that started a book club; I've wanted to join one for a while now. Also my last read was few weeks ago and it was time to nourish my mind. So Sunday I started to read "A Lineage of Grace" by Francine Rivers, and this is what I wore.
My dress is more summery, but I thought I could wear it now, pairing it with some tights and a long sweater to keep warm. My brown boots have become my favorite to wear lately, and they seem to be perfect for rainy days.
I hope your Sunday was as productive as mine. Yes mine was very much productive in the laundry area. I finished all my loads, now I'm in the process of folding it.
I hope you have a good week. Stay warm.
Much Love,
Beverly
